Use: The Taper applies a metered amount of joint compound to the joint tape, places the tape on the wall, and cuts the tape to length. It is used on both flats and corners equally well. |

Features:
- The NorthStar Taper has critical parts precision machined from billet aluminum (6061-T6): Head, Cover Plate, Drive Dog Holder, Tape Runners, and Cable Drum. Billet aluminum components are superior in strength and durability, and do not corrode.
- All aluminum parts are anodized, or finished with an exclusive chrome-look finish. The Tape Runners and Cable Drum are hard anodized. Anodizing makes the surface much harder than natural aluminum, and resistant to corrosion.
- The side plates are of stainless steel construction for greater strength.
- The corner creaser arms are stainless steel. This allows NorthStar to weld pivot pins in place. Ours don't break.
- NorthStar’s stainless steel drive chains are manufactured by Diamond Chain U.S.A. and assembled in Germany. These chains are all pre-run-in prior to delivery to NorthStar. They almost never wear out.
- The creaser chain and cutter chain are a leaf-style stainless steel chain. They almost never need replacing.
- NorthStar has an adjustable pawl roller system which lets you run the tension you prefer and adjust for wear.
- NorthStar has an adjustable cutter spring system to allow for blade change and tension adjustment. Lessening tension is helpful when working high on the wall.
- The open cutter spring system is stronger, and easier to clean and lubricate.
- Cutter blade changing is easier on Northstar.
- NorthStar has an extruded, one-piece bulkhead. The NorthStar bulkhead is much stronger and more rigid, resulting in accurate drive shaft line up in the taper head, less wear, and smoother running.
- NorthStar’s control tube is made from extruded 6061-T6 aluminum. Extruding allows for more details in the tube such as the finger tip grooving. 6061-T6 is hard, tough, and more resistant to dents.
- NorthStar has a finger tip pull ring on the control tube for ease in reaching high joints.
- NorthStar has a smooth tube band configuration exclusive to NorthStar. There is no bottom band to hurt the hand.
- NorthStar has more hard chrome parts for durability.
- All NorthStar’s plastic rollers run true and smooth because they are CNC machined from high impact delrin.
